Monmouth Cap

top of hat, originally uploaded by Mrs. Jeffrye.

In preparation for School of the Soldier, I'm trying to get in some period knitting. I made this for my dad, and now need to make one for my lovely red-bearded model (aka my husband).

I'm also planning to use my spring break to knit at least one pair of wool hose - for Jerm first, then me - I can get away with more layering since I'm wearing a skirt. His pants only hit at the knee, so I think his legs get a little cold, especially if it's wet (which it has been the past few years).

I knit these for J's mom for her Christmas present - she liked them. As usual, it was hard for me to finish, but I gave them to her by mid-January. Should have posted about them sooner!

This is my latest FO - I'm still working on the sweater, but I have to keep putting it down to, you know, work. But Jerm requested this, so I found a very simple pattern on Ravelry, and knit this up - probably took 3 hours, tops. A lot of fun to come up with the color pattern and use up that hot pink wool - it was an impulse buy 4 years ago, and I haven't used it up as much as I could have. So now it's almost gone. Thank goodness.

My first sweater

I think I'm a fairly accomplished knitter, but for some reason, I've never undertaken the challenge of knitting a sweater - mostly the issue was to commit to buying so much yarn at once. But at Stitches West, I found a great deal on Debbie Bliss Cashmerino Superbulky, so now I am doing it! You can see more on my ravelry projects page, and I'll post a picture when I'm done.

Stitches West

Stitches West, originally uploaded by Mrs. Jeffrye.

Trina talked me into going to Stitches West in San Jose with her today, and I had so much fun, and bought too much yarn!

We also got to meet Jess and Casey, the founders of Ravelry! I felt shy like I do when I meet "famous" people. Very cool day.
